Jaya Prakash graduated from the University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. In March 1998 he became the exclusive correspondent for a well-known P&I Club. He was made a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2000.
